Dr. A.K. Balange, having received his M.F.Sc.(Fisheries Science) from the prestigious Dr BS Konkan Agricultural University, Dapoli, Maharashtra and Ph.D in Food Science & Technology from world famous Prince of Songkala University, Hat Yai, Thailand in 1999 and 2009, respectively, is currently perched as Head, Division of Animal & Fisheries Science, Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Assam under Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. He has extensively pursued research work on different aspects of fisheries like in Aquaculture, investigated the effect of restricted feeding regimes on commercially important fish, nutritional requirement of ornamental fish, developed a low cost technology for successful transportation of fish seeds with high survival rate, fish processing, value added fish products, plant phenolics & seafood protein interaction, waste utilization, nutrient profiling of seaweeds, value addition of seaweeds, microplastic contamination in fish and cured fish products, extraction of hydrocolloids from shrimp shell waste. Handled 15research projects, of which 06 as Principal Investigator and 09 projects as Co-Principal Investigator, on various aspects of fisheries and fish processing.Evaluated 45 M.F.Sc. thesis and 25Ph.D thesis. Acted as Major-guide of 18 M.F.Sc. and 12Ph.D students and as Co-guide of 17 M. F.Sc. and 10 Ph.D students Awards: Credited with large number of publications including 133 Research Papers (More than 100 papers in Foreign Journals) 10 invited Lead/Keynote lectures, 3 TV talks and 50 abstracts in Seminar/Symposium/Conference. He is recipient of awards like ICAR-CIFE Annual Award-Best Young Faculty Award for the year 2013-14, ICAR-CIFE Annual Award-Best Division Award (FRHPHM) for the year 2015-16, ICAR-CIFE Annual Award-Best Scientist Award for the year 2019-20, ICAR-CIFE Annual Award-Best Division Award (FRHPHM) for the year 2020-21, ICAR-CIFE Annual Award-Best Publication of the year (2017-18), ICAR-CIFE Annual Award-Best Publication of the year (2018-19), ICAR-CIFE Annual Award-Best Publication of the year (2020-21), ICAR-CIFE Annual Award-Letter of Appreciation for the year (2018-19), ICAR-CIFE Annual Award-Letter of Appreciation for the year (2020-21)
