Dr. Ruan’s research focuses on renewable energy and environment technologies for sustainable development and circular economy. Specifically, he has conducted research and published his findings in the areas of biomass and solid wastes such as plastic wastes pyrolysis and gasification for chemicals, materials, fuels and energy production, municipal, agricultural, and industrial wastewater treatment and utilization through novel anaerobic digestion, microalgae cultivation, and hydroponics, airborne and other pathogen disinfection and pollutant control, innovative catalytic non-thermal plasma, low temperature microwave and pulse microwave, photocatalytic intensive pulse light, and NMR/MRI technologies research, development and applications in nitrogen fixation, food safety assurance, and food quality improvement, and food engineering and various value-added processing, etc. Dr. Ruan is a Fellow of ASABE and a Fellow of IFT, and a top-cited author with an h-index of 69, i10-index of 303, and over 19,000 citations.

Mohsen Guizani (Fellow, IEEE) received the BS (with distinction), MS and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer engineering from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, USA in 1985, 1987 and 1990, respectively. He is currently a Professor of Machine Learning and the Associate Provost at Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), Abu Dhabi, UAE. Previously, he worked in different institutions in the USA. His research interests include applied machine learning and artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), intelligent autonomous systems, smart city, and cybersecurity. He was elevated to the IEEE Fellow in 2009 and was listed as a Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher in Computer Science in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. Dr. Guizani has won several research awards including the “2015 IEEE Communications Society Best Survey Paper Award”, the Best ComSoc Journal Paper Award in 2021 as well five Best Paper Awards from ICC and Globecom Conferences. He is the author of ten books and more than 800 publications. He is also the recipient of the 2017 IEEE Communications Society Wireless Technical Committee (WTC) Recognition Award, the 2018 AdHoc Technical Committee Recognition Award, and the 2019 IEEE Communications and Information Security Technical Recognition (CISTC) Award. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Network and is currently serving on the Editorial Boards of many IEEE Transactions and Magazines. He was the Chair of the IEEE Communications Society Wireless Technical Committee and the Chair of the TAOS Technical Committee. Kang-Won Wayne Lee is a faculty of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CVE) and RITRC Director at URI. He worked as CVE Director of Graduate Studies from 1996 to 1999 and served as Chairperson from 2005 to 2008. He also served as Chairman of the URI Research Council from 1990 to 1991, and a URI Faculty Senate Executive Committee member from 1992 to 1994. In 1992, Prof. Lee established the RITRC, the recipient of a $12 million research grant under the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA21) in 1998 and served as R&D Director for the URI Transportation Center (TC) Grant Program from 1999 to 2003. He also has been working with the consortium of University of Maine and received USDOT Region 1 UTC – Transpiration Infrastructure Durability Center grant ($14.7M) in 2018.

Mahendra Sunkara, Professor in Chemical Engineering Department, received his B.Tech, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Andhra University (India) in 1986, Clarkson University in 1988 and Case Western Reserve University in 1993, respectively. For his Ph.D., he joined Professor John C. Angus at Case Western Reserve University, a pioneer in the low pressure synthesis of diamond and related materials. In his dissertation, Sunkara developed a simple kinetic Monte-Carlo scheme for simulating the morphology of vapor grown diamond crystals and was able to contribute significantly to put forward theories on nucleation and growth mechanisms involved with low-pressure synthesis of diamond using chemical vapor deposition methods. Dr. Sunkara joined Faraday Technology, Inc. in 1993 and worked as a Project Engineer till 1996. During this period, Dr. Sunkara received research support through SBIR program over $1.5 MM (4 SBIR Phase I, two Phase II) from NSF, DoT, EPA and U.S. Navy. These projects covered a wide-ranging application areas such as advanced coatings to prevent corrosion on rebars (DoT), electrokinetic remediation of heavy metal contaminated soils (EPA), electrochemical recovery of heavy metals from plating waste waters and corrosion monitoring within supercritical media (NSF).

Dr. Akira Nishimura is an associate professor in Division of Mechanical Engineering at Mie University, Japan. He received the B.S. Eng., the M.S. Eng. and Dr. Eng. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Nagoya University, Japan in 1995, 1997 and 2000, respectively. He worked at Center for Integrated Research in Science and Engineering, Nagoya University as research associate from 2000 to 2002. He moved to Mie University in 2002 as an assistant professor and promoted to associate professor from 2014. He has published 89 journal papers which are reviewed. His current researches are clarification on heat and mass transfer mechanism of polymer electrolyte fuel cell, CO2 reduction by photocatalyst, H2 production from biogas and smart city utilizing renewable energy actively.

Ngo, Huu Hao (Hao) is currently a Distinguished Professor of Environmental Engineering and being Deputy Director, Centre for Technology in Water and Wastewater, and Co-Director, Joint Research Centre for Environmental Green Bioprocess, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, FEIT, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia. He has been elected as President, International Bioprocessing Association, Distinguished Fellow of International Bioprocessing Association, and Fellow of International Water Association. He is also Member of the Joint Committee of Science and Technology for International Forum of Water Sustainability (IFWS) and Yellow River EIC. Hao’s expertise and practical experience include advanced biological wastewater/waste treatment technologies (e.g. membrane bioreactor, specific attached and/or suspended growth bioreactors, anaerobic digesters, wetland and bio-sorption). His expertise spans green and sustainable bioprocessing technologies,biogas/biohydrogen production, greenhouse gas emission control/climate change mitigation, resource recovery, renewable resources, water management, environmental impact assessment and solid waste management. Hao has been Clarivate Analytics, Web of ScienceHighly Cited Researchers (2019-present) and published more than 650 publications including 14 books and 46 books chapters.

Professor Ir. Dr Nasrudin Bin Abd Rahim, a Malaysian aged 61. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Strathclyde in 1985 and obtained his Master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering from the same university in 1988. He also holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree with a thesis titled “Closed-Loop Control of a Current-Mode AC/DC Buck Converter in a 4 Quadrant P-Q Operation” in the field study of Power Electronics from Heriot-Watt University, which he obtained in 1995. He is also a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers USA since 2008, a Professional Engineer of the Board of Engineers Malaysia since 2017, a Chartered Engineer of the Institution of Engineering Council (United Kingdom) since 2001, Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (United Kingdom) since 2009 and a Fellow of the Academy of Science Malaysia since 2010. He specializes inpower electronics & drives, renewable energy systems and policy, and energy efficiency systems. Professor Dr Nasrudin has produced 52 PhD students and 55 Master by research. In addition, he has contributed to various applied engineering fields by providing consultancies, conducting professional testing services to PV solar farms and offering specialized research facilities in solar inverter and solar PV modules. Dr. Pathak is an Associate Professor & Atmospheric Scientist in the department of Chemistry & Molecular Biology, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He received his undergraduate degree (5 yr integrated B. Tech. + M. Tech. 1999) in Chemical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (India) and PhD in atmospheric aerosol studies from the department of Chemical Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (2004). Then, he further pursued his postdoctoral research at the Centre for Atmospheric Particle Studies, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA (2006). He has contributed, as a lead author, in many research articles in peer reviewed international journals of aerosol and air quality research. His research interests include air pollution chemistry and role of atmospheric aerosol in climate change and sustainable development. Dr. Pathak is also founder of the University of Gothenburg’s research station “Indo Gangetic Plains – Center for Air Research and Education (IGP-CARE), in rural India at Hamirpur U.P. He is collaborating with more than two dozen academic institutions globally including USA, Europe, China, Japan, India. On the other hand, he is also a social reformer, entrepreneur and actionist focusing on sustainability and agricultural practices, environmental protection. Dr. S.A. Sherif is a tenured Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and is the Founding Director of the Wayne K. and Lyla L. Masur HVAC Laboratory, the Director of the Industrial Assessment Center and the Director of the Mobile Energy Laboratory at the University of Florida. He served as Co-Director of the Southeastern Center for Industrial Energy Intensity Reduction at the University of Florida (2009-2013). He also served on the faculties of the University of Florida (1991-present), University of Miami (1987-1991), and Northern Illinois University (1984-1987). Dr. Verónica Bermúdez is the Senior Research Director of the Energy Center at QEERI (Qatar Environment Research Institute, QEERI). She is leading scientific and technological research, development and innovation at QEERI in the field of Energy, while addressing the impact of climate change and developing sustainable development solutions in a Net-Zero Carbon emissions scenario. Prior to joining the organization in 2018, she was Acting General Manager of the Technology Division of the Atsugi Research Center at Solar Frontier KK in Japan. She has also hold a position of Expert Engineer at EDF R&D, Senior Scientist at NEXCIS (start-up) and Head of the Optoelectronic Characterization Laboratory at IRDEP (EDF) in France, between others. She is in the Advisory Board of a number of entities and provides consultancy and high level strategic technology commercialization advice to global companies and small companies alike. The impact of her research has been acknowledged by the invitation to give plenary talks at different international events, as well as the reception of several prestigious awards, including the 2007 International Schieber Prize, the Research and Development. Leader of the Year from the Women in New Energy Leadership Awards 2022, and others... She is in the Scientific Advisory Board of a number of private companies and research institutes. Dr. Bermúdez is an internationally recognized expert in clean and sustainable energy and in particular in photovoltaic materials and technologies in the whole value chain. Her scientific work combines fundamental and applied research to sustainable processes and materials for solar photovoltaic, grid integration, hybrid power systems and power plant operations best practices, reliability, degradation and impact of weather conditions on conversion efficiency.

Nadia MACHKOUR is a full professor in the ENSAM (Ecole National Supérieure des Arts et Métiers) of Casablanca, Hassan II University. She received the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from INP/ENSEEIHT of Toulouse, Franc, in 2000, and the Ph.D degree In electrotechnics from Blaise Pascal University of Clermont Ferrand, France, in 2003. From 2003 to 2006, she was a guest Researcher in the National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) of Maryland, USA. And from 2006 to 2008 she was a professor at the Auvergne University, France. His research interest includes, Power electronic and application, the renewable energy, E-mobility, the optical surface metrology, the low voltage breaking arc and plasma. BIO: Raed Al Kontar is an assistant professor in the Industrial & Operations engineering department at the University of Michigan and an affiliate with the Michigan Institute for Data Science. Raed’s research focuses on collaborative and decentralized data science. Raed obtained an undergraduate degree in civil & environmental engineering and mathematics from the American University of Beirut in 2014, a master’s degree in statistics in 2017, and a Ph.D. degree in Industrial & System Engineering in 2018, both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Raed has won eight best paper awards from the INFORMS Quality, Statistics & Reliability section, INFORMS Data Mining section, and IISE’s Quality Control & Reliability engineering section. Both NSF and NIH currently support his research. He was also recently awarded the prestigious U.S NSF CAREER award for young investigators.

Dr. Abdelkader Abdelmoumene obtained his PhD from the Institute of Electrical Engineering and Electronics (Ex-INELEC), University of Boumerdes in 2015. He also received the degree of State Engineer in Electromechanical Engineering and the Master degree in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Hydrocarbons and Chemistry at the University of Boumerdes, in 2006 and 2010 respectively. He worked for the Engineering Division of the National Company of Great Petroleum Works (a subsidiary of Sonatrach Group) from 2008 to 2015. Then, he moved to Qatar Airways Group - HIA. His areas of interest include Renewable Energy, Smart Grid, Reliability and Power System Protection, Monitoring and Control. He has authored and co-authored several journal \ conference papers. Patrick “Pat” Phelan is a Professor of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU), and the Assistant Dean for Engineering Graduate Programs. He previously served as the Director of the National Science Foundation Thermal Transport Processes Program (2006 – 2008), and as Manager of the Emerging Technologies Program at the US Department of Energy Building Technologies Office (2012 – 2016). He received his BS degree from Tulane University, his MS from MIT, and his PhD from UC Berkeley, all in mechanical engineering. Following two years as a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, he began his academic career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Hawaii before moving to ASU in 1996. His research and teaching interests are in thermal engineering, energy efficiency, and sustainable energy. He is the Field Chief Editor for Frontiers in Energy Efficiency.

Dr. Amjad Ali, former Head of the School of Chemistry & Biochemistry, obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2005 from the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay. Later he joined Bharat Corporation Limited for postdoctoral studies on developing heterogeneous catalysts for biodiesel production. He is presently working as a full professor of chemistry in the School of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology. His research interest is the development of mixed metal oxide-based heterogeneous catalysts for triglyceride and glycerol transformation into biodiesel, diesel fuel additives, glycerol carbonate, and acetins. He has published over 75 papers in reputed journals and one book chapter and was granted two Indian patents. Various government funding agencies have funded his research and consultancy work.

Dr.-Ing. S. Silviana is a researcher and lecturer at Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering - Diponegoro University. I am graduated from doctoral degree of Lehrstuhl für Feststoffverfahrenstechnik, Institut für Thermo- und Fluiddynamik, Fakultät für Maschinenbau, Ruhr- Universität Bochum Germany. The research focus on the advanced materials applied to energy, food, nanoparticle, and study-based approach in evaluating chemical industry process, especially in determining design variables and energy efficiency. Lílian Lefol Nani Guarieiro received a degree in chemistry from Centro Universitário de Lavras (2003), a master’s degree in organic chemistry and a specialization in petroleum chemistry from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2006), and a PhD in analytical chemistry from Federal University of Bahia (2010); was in the sandwich doctorate program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA; and was a post-doc at the National Institute of Science and Technology for Energy and Environment (2011). She is currently the coordinator of the professional master’s program in sustainable development at SENAI CIMATEC. She has experience in environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry, and organic chemistry, with an emphasis on oil, gas, and biofuels.

Avraham Kudish received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cooper Union and his PhD. in Polymer Chemistry from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He spent five years at the Weizmann Institute of Science researching solar energy conversion. He joined the Chemical Engineering faculty of the Ben-Gurion University in 1975 and is presently emeritus. His research interests include the conversion of solar energy to thermal energy, solar desalination, the measurement and analysis of solar irradiation (global, UVB and UVA) and ultraviolet irradiation measurements in conjunction with climatotherapy at the Dead Sea. He received the 1986 Löf-Duffie Best Solar Energy Journal Paper Award from the International Solar Energy Society for A Study of Collector Aging, Installation and Material Problems. He was also awarded the 2006 Best Poster Award at the 30th Annual Meeting of the Israel Society of Dermatology and Venereology for the poster entitled Photoclimatherapy at the Dead Sea: How to Use Tabulated Ultraviolet Data to Determine Optimal Sun-Exposure Protocols.

Dr. Chitra Venugopal’s academic and professional background combines science and engineering (BEng in Electronics, Communication and MEng in Power Electronics and Drives from Bharathidasan University and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Sastra University). Her professional experience includes researcher in power system and power electronics field and published many research articles. Dr. Chitra is a senior member of the IEEE, a member of Eta Kappa Nu (the international honor society for electrical engineers). She joined the Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy (EERE) department at Oregon Tech in 2018 where is now a tenure track Assistant Professor. Dr. Chitra currently serves as the program director of the BS Renewable Energy Engineering Program, Portland – Metro Campus. Her areas of teaching include power system, power electronics, electric power conversion and grid integration. Her current research focuses on smart grid integration of renewable energies, demand response and grid oscillations, power converters for nano and micro power applications, smart drives including PLCs, intelligent converters for EVs.

Dr. Safwan Wshah is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Vermont. His research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning theory and application. He has broader interests in deep learning, computer vision, data analytics, and image processing. In his lab, he researches algorithms to improve the adaptability and generalization of machine learning methods to allow higher-quality applications to broader classes of real-life problems in the fields of Energy, Medical, Transportation, and Communication.

Dr. Ranjith Bose, a Research Scientist at Khalifa University, working on the field of sustainable materials for energy conversion & storage technologies. His background in electrochemistry and his research is focused on the development of earth abundant, low-cost electrocatalyst materials for fuel cells and solar-driven electrolyzers. Specifically, his research emphasizes developing conceptual models underlying electrochemical phenomena to better understand the fundamental chemistry behind electro-chemical reactions (material - interface reactions) in sustainable energy conversion systems.

Hany A. Abdelsalam received his B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Tanta University, Tanta, Egypt, his M.Sc. degree in electrical power engineering from Mansoura University, Mansoura, Egypt, and his Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Carbondale, IL, USA in 2011. He was a postdoc fellow at Clemson University, Clemson, SC, USA from 2013 – 2016. He is currently a Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Kafrelsheikh University, Kafr el-Sheikh, Egypt. He worked as the chair of the electrical engineering department at the Faculty of Engineering, Kafrelsheikh University from 2019 – 2022. He also worked as the coordinator of the international relations office at Kafrelsheikh University from 2020 – 2022. His research interests include power system control, distribution system resiliency improvements, renewable energy, and utilizing blockchain in smart grids.

He is mainly engaged in the research of basic combustion theory and application technology of low carbon and zero carbon fuel for engines. In recent years, it has undertaken more than 10 projects. Dina A. Zaki received B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD degrees in Electrical Power Engineering from Ain Shams University, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo, Egypt, in 2006, 2012, and 2020, respectively. She worked as a teaching assistant from 2006 - 2012, at Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Cairo branch, Egypt and El- Shorouk academy. She was an assistant lecturer at the Future University in Egypt (FUE) from 2013 - 2019. She has been an assistant professor at the Higher Institute for Engineering and Technology, Fifth settlement since October 2020 till now. Her special fields of interest include power system stability analysis, renewable energy resources, electrical measurements, electrical power system protection, switchgear and microgrids.

Prof. Gungor received his Ph. D in mechanical engineering (Istanbul Technical University) in 2006. He is presently professor of mechanical engineering at Akdeniz University, Antalya TURKEY. Prof Gungor has edited 17 books, and has published more than 280 proceedings, and has published more than 130 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, in addition to more than 35 book chapters. In the last 2 years Prof. Gungor has applied to patent for 3 innovative projects. His research interests include New and Renewable Energy Sources, Nanotechnology, Energy Conversion and Management, Simulation and Modeling of Energy Systems, Combustion and Gasification of Coal and Biomass in Fluidised Beds, Hydrogen Production and Purification in Gasification of Coal and Biomass, Solar Thermal Applications.

Dr. Nikola Vladimir is Associate Professor and Head of the Chair of Marine Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (UNIZAG FSB), University of Zagreb. He obtained MSc degree in Naval Architecture in 2007 at UNIZAG FSB, and PhD in the field of Hydroelasticity of ship structures in 2011, at the same University. His research interest include: energy efficiency, environmental friendliness and sustainability of ships and other floating structures, ship power systems, design and operation of special ships (fishing vessels, ro-ro passenger vessels, inland waterway vessels), aquaculture, LCA & LCCA, fluid-structure interaction, static and dynamic analyses of ships and floating structures, etc. As a guest researcher he was appointed at the Technical University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior Tecnico, Lisbon, Portugal, Research Department of Bureau Veritas, Paris, France and at the Pusan National University, Busan, South Korea. During his career Dr. Nikola Vladimir was involved in a number of projects funded though the competitive programmes (EU FP7, Horizon Europe, Interreg ADRION, Global Core Research Center for Ships and Offshore Plants (GCRC-SOP) South Korea, European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF), European Social Fund (ESF), European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Croatian Science Foundation (CSF), Bilateral Croatian-Chinese Science and Technology Cooperation, Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports, etc.). He conducted number of technical projects for respectable domestic and international clients. Dr. Nikola Vladimir is a member of editorial boards of several international journals, member of International Ship and Offshore Structure Congress (ISSC) as well as the member of the Scientific Council for Maritime Affairs of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. He reviewed number of papers for journals and conferences and has authored of more than 250 papers in international journals and specialized conference proceedings.

Dr. Mahnoosh Shajiee is a Lecturer at Amirkabir University. She was a Research Assistant at Ottawa University, Canada. She holds a BS, MS, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. She got a PostDBA degree and has experience in the area of management and futures studies. Her research is on Renewable Energy and bioinformatics. She has worked on an observer design for a wind turbine. She has served as a reviewer on multiple journals, including the ISA Transactions (Elsevier) and the International Journal of Dynamics and Control (Springer). She is the author and co-author of a number of scientific papers in her field and has conducted a number of student research projects.

Dr. Deepanraj Balakrishnan is currently working as Research Faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Yifei Wang is currently an Associate Professor in School of Mechanical Engineering and automation, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen. He received his B.Sc. degree from Department of Modern Mechanics, University of Science and Technology of China in 2012, and his Ph.D. degree from Department of Mechanical Engineering, The University of Hong Kong in 2016. Afterwards, he worked as a Postdoc in the same university. His research interest is mainly focused on microfluidic energy conversion and battery additive manufacture, including fuel cells, metal-air batteries, aqueous ion batteries and electrolyzers. Till now, he has published over 60 scientific articles in these areas, with a total citation of 1400 and a h-index of 23. He has also filed 5 patents on innovative fuel cell and battery technologies.

Yu Shen, Ph.D., Prof. at Nanjing Forestry University, China. My research interests are focused on environmental biology and nanomaterials in environmental applications. Especially on the biological fates of the environmental organic contaminates in plants; the application of nanomaterials in environmental pollution control and the biological mechanism of nanomaterials in plant immunity. Over 50 academic papers have been published in my research fields, H-index15; H10-index19; and I served as referee of several international academic journals.

Currently a doctoral candidate, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor of the Department of Life Safety of the Polytechnic Institute, South Ural State University (National Research University), Russia and associate professor of the Department of Power Supply, Department of Energy, Tajik Technical University named after academician M.S.
